LMIA for Working in Canada:

A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that employers in Canada may need to get before hiring a foreign worker. The LMIA verifies that there is a need for a foreign worker to fill the job and that no Canadian worker is available to do the job.

To get an LMIA, employers must first submit an application to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). The application must include a job offer for the foreign worker, a description of the job duties, and information about the wages and working conditions.


Once the application is submitted, ESDC will review it and determine if the job offer meets the criteria for an LMIA. If the job offer meets the criteria, ESDC will issue an LMIA. The LMIA will include the number of positions that can be filled by foreign workers and the duration of the job offer.


Once the LMIA is issued, the foreign worker can apply for a work permit. The work permit will be valid for the duration of the job offer.


In some cases, employers may be exempt from the LMIA process. This includes employers who are hiring foreign workers for certain types of jobs, such as jobs in the agricultural sector or jobs in the performing arts etc.


Do I need IELTS to work in Canada:
